We are seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Volunteer to support our organization in achieving Cyber Essentials certification and strengthening our overall security posture.

What will you be doing?

The Role: 

We are seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Volunteer to support our organization in achieving Cyber Essentials certification and strengthening our overall security posture. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of our digital infrastructure, enabling us to continue delivering impactful STEM initiatives effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to help the organization achieve Cyber Essentials certification by conducting a gap analysis and implementing necessary measures.
  • Assess and enhance the organization's existing cybersecurity policies, processes, and tools to align with best practices.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement security guidelines and documentation to educate team members on best practices.
  • Monitor and respond to potential security threats and incidents, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the secure handling and storage of sensitive data.
  • Support the implementation of secure access controls, network security measures, and system configurations.

What are we looking for?

Requirements:

  • Background in cybersecurity, IT, or a related field (formal qualifications and equivalent experience welcomed).
  • Familiarity with Cyber Essentials certification requirements or similar frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of security tools, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a remote team.
