Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We're telling powerful stories through our recorded online events and peaceful protests. We need someone to help us turn this into powerful storytelling through the written word that connects people, builds empathy and inspires action.

What will you be doing?

Flotilla4Change is seeking a talented and thoughtful copywriter to help shape our public voice through blog content. You’ll work closely with the events and comms team to craft compelling blog posts that highlight upcoming live events, unpack key moments from past recordings, and develop a strong, consistent tone of voice for our growing movement.

We’re a grassroots collective using carbon-neutral sailing, storytelling, and international solidarity to bring frontline voices into global climate conversations. Your writing will help connect people to our mission, our community, and the urgency of climate justice.

What are we looking for?

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the events team to create engaging blog posts about upcoming events
  • Watch recordings of past events and turn them into summary posts, speaker highlights, and quote-rich recaps
  • Develop and refine a distinctive tone of voice for Flotilla4Change that reflects our values—hopeful, courageous, inclusive, and bold
  • Help shape a consistent blog format and content calendar (with flexibility for spontaneity and story-driven pieces)
  • Occasionally adapt blog content into copy for emails, newsletters, and social posts

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Are an experienced, creative writer with a flair for storytelling and clarity
  • Enjoy writing about climate, justice, activism, or people-led movements
  • Can translate event content into narratives that inform, inspire, and mobilise
  • Understand or are curious about tone of voice, editorial identity, and brand storytelling
  • Are happy working flexibly, independently, and collaboratively with a friendly team
  • Want to help shape how a grassroots movement shows up in the world

What we offer:

  • A collaborative and values-led space to grow your portfolio
  • The opportunity to help shape a bold and evolving communications identity
  • Real-world experience in editorial strategy, climate communications, and event promotion
  • A chance to connect with people doing inspiring work around the globe

What difference will you make?

Your words will inspire people to get involved with Flotilla4Change, to promote carbon neutral travel at an international level and platform the voices who are most at-risk from the climate crisis.

Before you apply

After shortlisting, you will be invited for a chat with a member of our team for a general introduction to the organisation and to further discuss the role and answer any questions.

If we both decide this looks like a good fit, you'll have a second chat with the Team Lead for that area applied for, followed by onboarding if everyone is in the same place about moving forward.
