What will you be doing?

We are looking for volunteers with strong marketing ideas of how to reach targeted communities to encourage involvement in knowing more about British and Black British heritage.

What are we looking for?

Essential requirements

  • Experience of working in a marketing or communications role, or willingness to fulfil the as a project-based volunteer
  • Tactical marketing - experience of reaching communities and audiences in London.
  • Strong writing and proofing skills and use of social media. Ideally the right person will also possess good communication skills and enjoy working with different personalities and developing networks.
  • They also need to be self-motivated and take responsibility for their goals. A keen interest in events, art, social - political history and African Caribbean communities is a bonus.

 

What difference will you make?

Your help will help a small charity reach its potential to share and make the most of the rich cultural history of London's Black British - African Caribbean community, to share the knowledge and help animate the archives educational value to intergenerational audiences.

Specific aims / skills include:

  • Understanding of how to reach intergenerational & communities
  • Marketing and promotions knowledge for increasing presence digitally and via traditional networks
  • Good social media skills
  • Good understanding of other digital applications for PR/comms
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Copy writing and editing skills
  • Website updates (if possible)
  • Able to produce update reports or marketing briefing materials
  • Project co-ordination with other volunteers
  • Build community networks
  • Have a keen interest in arts, cultural heritage and diversity

We are getting ready for the next set exhibitions with our partners. This is a flexible marketing/comms role to support our presence in promoting Cultural heritage / via our Archive projects. The role offers the chance to research stories, increase or share your marketing skills and experiences. This role offers the opportunity to cross paths—as well as, in many cases, quickly bond—with people from across a range of diverse and cultural communities and sector backgrounds.
