The volunteer will understand this process better than we!

International Arts is looking to buy a small property in Normandy France as a retreat for writers, performers and visual artists to use in the years to come.  We would love someone with expertise in this field to support us.

What will you be doing?

  • We will be looking for the Consultant to advise on best practice for the actual purchase.
  • The buying / conveyancing procedures in France
  • Working with a notaire
  • Supplementary costs
  • Ongoing taxes and liabilities
  • UK company purchase
  • Possible bourses / subventions
  • Someone to make the experience as pain free as possible!

What are we looking for?

Experience / expertise with any / all of:

  • Buying a property in France
  • UK companies buying in France
  • Associated law
  • French grants and benefits for arts' practices
  • French language
  • And the patience / commitment to find out about any of the above for those areas about which you are less familiar.

What difference will you make?

The Charity is looking to buy a property on a really limited budget. So every saving we can make by taking the best possible steps is of vital importance to us. And most importantly contributes to the long term goal of providing artists of all sorts with a lovely place they can use for creative engagement.

What's in it for the volunteer?

Anyone suited to this role is likely already to know the joy as well as the headache of buying a property in France. In addition this is a pet project of the International Arts team - something we are all hugely excited by and the consultant will get to share that excitment with us. And as above - we believe that artists of all sorts will get the benefit for years to come.
