Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are at an exciting stage in our growth and are looking for passionate, motivated individuals to join our Trustee Board and help increase our impact and ensure digital inclusion for all.

What will you be doing?

At Community TechAid our mission is to end digital poverty by providing sustainable access to the technology, skills and opportunities needed to get online.

We are at an exciting stage in our growth and are looking for passionate, motivated individuals to join our Trustee Board and help increase our impact and ensure digital inclusion for all.

You will be able to dedicate a minimum of 3 hours a month to Community TechAid work, and be available for in person quarterly meetings in London. Ideally you will have experience in HR or business development and have a connection to our south London community.

We know that diverse groups of people make better decisions, and want our Board to look like and actively represent the community we serve, helping to ensure our team, ambitions and ways of working match our community’s needs.

For further information please take a look at our recruitment pack on our website.

We look forward to hearing from you!

What are we looking for?

We aim for our Trustee Board to provide a broad mix of skills, backgrounds and lived experience reflective of the communities we support. We are keen to hear from those with previous board experience, women and those who under 30, however this is not essential. We are particularly interested in those who meet one or more of the highlighted criteria below. Please note that you don’t need to meet every criteria on the list:

  1. Human Resources qualification and experience
  2. Business development experience (with a focus on income growth and/or charity/social enterprise development)
  3. Substantial trustee board experience within other organisations
  4. Experience of social franchising and interest in mentoring staff in this regard
  5. Individuals from minority ethnicities or communities that we support, such as Black, Latino, LGBTQIA+ individuals and/or individuals living with one or more disabilities
  6. Access to networks of potential funding sources and support in the business community, nonprofit and public sectors
  7. Lived experience of digital exclusion, especially with experience of receiving CTA support
  8. Lived experience of one or more of the key demographic groups we serve (e.g. low income families/individuals, disabled, refugees, asylum seekers, NRPF, schools, women’s support groups)

What difference will you make?

Our Trustee Board is a vital part of Community TechAid, helping to guide our strategic vision and ensure we meet our mission of ending the digital divide.

At Community TechAid we see first-hand how the digital divide contributes to existing barriers, preventing people from developing the skills and opportunities they need to thrive. Lack of access impacts all aspects of daily life, from managing finances to accessing education and healthcare, and as the cost of living escalates we are seeing more and more people pushed into digital poverty.

As a board member you will have the opportunity to influence our direction and enable our dedicated team of staff and volunteers to provide a valuable and impactful service for those experiencing digital poverty.

As detailed in the recruitment pack, to apply for this role please provide via email:

  • A brief summary of your personal background (up to 200 words)
  • A brief summary of why you're interested in CTA (up to 200 words)
  • A summary of what you hope you'll be able to add to our Board of Trustees in terms of your knowledge and experience, taking into consideration the criteria listed in our recruitment pack above (up to 300 words)
