Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Flotilla4Change is looking for a community-minded, people-powered volunteer to help us build connection, momentum, and belonging within our growing online community.

What will you be doing?

We use The Mighty Network to bring together a vibrant mix of people: experienced sailors and complete beginners who want to sail to COP, boat owners, project partners, and volunteers offering all kinds of support. Some are in it for the journey. Others just want to spread the word. All are part of the crew.

We also use LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram as well as manage a mailing list.

Your role is to help us nurture a lively, welcoming, and purposeful space where people feel seen, excited, and ready to take action.

What you’ll do:

  • Engage members of our Mighty Network, encouraging conversation, connection, and collaboration
  • Welcome new members and build a culture of participation
  • Share updates, prompts, opportunities, and highlights to keep the community buzzing
  • Promote our monthly online hangout, The Tuesday Night Raft Up, and help make it feel special
  • Support community growth by promoting membership and making it easy for others to invite friends and allies
  • Help us listen to the community, gathering feedback and stories we can act on and amplify
  • Understand the principles of inclusion and contribute to our aims of making sure we're open to everyone

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience managing or engaging online communities
  • Is passionate about climate justice and grassroots action
  • Loves helping people feel welcome and involved
  • Can work flexibly and proactively—this is a few hours a week, but ongoing
  • Is comfortable using or learning The Mighty Network (it’s easy—we’ll show you!)

This role is ideal for someone who wants to:

  • Help grow a meaningful, values-driven movement
  • Connect with people from around the world
  • Use their people skills to support real-world change
  • Be part of something hopeful, ambitious, and full of heart

What difference will you make?

Brining people together is powerful, and we know it's more than just broadcasting our activities. We want to have an authentic community and not just pay lip service to the idea. Some of us are will be at sea, some of us will be on the ground, some of us will be at home. You'll be the person to help us feel like we're all part of one tribe regardless of our background, location or contribution.

Before you apply

After shortlisting, you will be invited for a chat with a member of our team for a general introduction to the organisation and to further discuss the role and answer any questions. If we both decide this looks like a good fit, you'll have a second chat with the Team Lead for that area applied for, followed by onboarding if everyone is in the same place about moving forward.
