The 6th East Kilbride Scout Group is seeking a Community Asset Transfer Adviser to assist us in exploring the possibility of acquiring a suitable property through the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) scheme offered by South Lanarkshire Council

What will you be doing?

About the Project:

Our Scout Group plays a vital role in the community, providing enriching experiences and fostering essential skills development for young people aged 5-18. However, our current facilities limit our ability to expand our programs and accommodate our growing membership.

The Role:

The Community Asset Transfer Adviser will provide us with expert guidance and support throughout the CAT process. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Assessing our needs and suitability for a CAT project.
  • Identifying potentially suitable properties owned by South Lanarkshire Council.
  • Liaising with the Council's CAT team to understand the process and eligibility criteria.
  • Assisting with the development of a compelling CAT application, including a detailed business plan.
  • Providing guidance on legal and financial considerations.
  • Connecting us with relevant resources and support networks.
  • Negotiating with the Council on our behalf (if applicable).

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in facilitating Community Asset Transfers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the CAT process and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to assess community needs and develop viable project proposals.
  • Strong understanding of property management and financial planning.

Benefits:

  • The opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people in East Kilbride.
  • Work with a dedicated and passionate volunteer group.
  • Contribute to the positive development of the local community.

We are confident that a successful CAT project will allow us to establish a permanent Scout base, enabling us to offer a wider range of programs, cater to more young people, and serve the East Kilbride community for years to come.

If you are a passionate and experienced Community Asset Transfer Adviser who shares our commitment to youth development, we encourage you to apply!
