If you're a strategic thinker and passionate about empowering vulnerable children and young people in East Africa, this role is perfect for you.

What will you be doing?

Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) supports vulnerable children and young people in Tanzania with shelter, food and medical aid and access to education and vocational training. Our goal is to empower a new generation with the skills and opportunities to become self-sufficient and enjoy a future without poverty.

As the charity marks its 5th anniversary, we are looking to transform our strategic governance to achieve greater sustainability in all aspects of the organisation and improve systems and processes that will enable us to continue to grow and develop new projects and services.

Following the appointment of a new Chair with extensive experience in international development, we are now recruiting new Board members who can provide specific skills and specialist knowledge to achieve these objectives. We are specifically looking for Trustees with the following two sets of expertise: 1) financial management, to serve as Treasurer to the Board; and 2) safeguarding of young persons.

This is an exciting opportunity to support grassroots change in a charity that has grown remarkably in a short time and is making a big impact on the lives of children, young people and families in Tanzania.

What are we looking for?

We are specifically looking for Trustees with the following two sets of expertise: 1) financial management, to serve as Treasurer to the Board; and 2) safeguarding of young persons.

What difference will you make?

As part of the Board, you will have a direct impact in addressing existing and new strategic challenges facing a growing organisation. Your guidance and support will enable the organisation to think sustainably, focus on its mission and transform the lives of children and young people, today and for generations to come.

Before you apply

Please provide a covering letter and CV, which will be forwarded to the recruitment panel.
