Could you be an effective trustee for a virtual organisation of home-based volunteers? Do you have a heart for mission but are unable to go overseas yourself at this time? Are you looking for an opportunity to really make a difference?

What will you be doing?

MissionAssist recently celebrated 30 years as a charity of volunteers serving world mission from home. Through many areas of service, including provision of the EasyEnglish Bible, MissionAssist members are making a real difference as they support those involved in Bible translation and widening access to the Scriptures.

The Board are currently seeking new Trustees with commitment, drive and energy to help MissionAssist continue to pursue this vision. The Chair would particularly welcome enquiries from people who can offer one or more of the following:

  • Accountancy experience especially within a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Expertise to fulfil the role of Secretary.¬† (A minutes secretary is in post.)
  • Recent experience in overseas mission.
  • Younger people who have a passion for overseas mission and Bible translation (Reach criteria requires all volunteers to have at least three years' professional experience¬†in the public, private or voluntary sectors).

Further details:

  • Voluntary
  • Part-time
  • Home-based/remote
  • Expenses covered

What are we looking for?

Enquiries are welcome from anyone capable of being an effective trustee who is interested in helping MissionAssist fulfil its vision. However, those able to bring one or more of the following areas of professional expertise would be of particular interest: financial management, marketing, digital or IT strategy as relevant to our organisation, general management, volunteer management, governance and strategic management.

What difference will you make?

MissionAssist has a well established board of trustees with a good knowledge of the organisation and its challenges. They recognise that it would be of benefit to include new, perhaps younger, trustees who can contribute a fresh perspective as well as expand the professional skills and experience of the board.

What's in it for the volunteer?

The network of volunteers who make up MissionAssist are skilled, experienced and committed. The opportunity to work alongside them, exchange knowledge and support one another is very fulfilling as well as the key aspect of participating in the shared mission.

A few more details

All members work from their own home and travel to scheduled meetings and the annual conference, although these are currently remote via video conferencing.

There is no closing date deadline. Applications will be considered as they are received.

Before you apply

Enquiries are welcome from existing members of MissionAssist and those willing to become a member. An initial conversation will include an opportunity to ask questions as well as describe how you are offering to contribute to the board of trustees' work of leading and overseeing the activities of the charity.
