Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and helps launch young people for life through nautical adventure and fun. Our volunteers work with young people and behind the scenes, to help make a positive difference to our young people.
As Birmingham Vernon has moved back into its historical location, and within the brand new multi million pound Midlands Boat Station, we still face regular challenges that every charity face.
Our long term goals are to provide our cadets with discounted or free of charge courses and opportunities to help them gain new skills, meet new people and experience all the Sea Cadets has to offer.
To do this, fiscal managment is key and we are looking to expand our Unit Management Team (UMT). This group of dedicated volunteers is responsible for charity compliance, managing the accounts and ensuring the cadets and our volunteers have the resources they need.
Many different skills and knowledge areas can be useful but the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people are essential. If you think you are a match for the person specification below, please get in touch:

Working as part of a dedicated team of volunteers, this vital role, will help ensure we can continue our support for our young people aged between 9-18. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity - ensuring we are able to provide all our cadets with the same life changing experiences regardless of background.
We understand the responsibilities people have outside volunteering. We offer a flexible approach, recognising that everyone has skills to offer and that volunteering needs to fit around peoples' busy lives - so if a desire to support local young people is there, varying abilities to commit need not be a barrier.
