This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in an engaging, decision making role in the leading independent charity for older people in Somerset / North Somerset.
To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. As a Trustee you will share our vision and values and will have commitment and drive to promote the wellbeing and independence of older people, in all their diversity, helping them live longer and better.
As a Trustee you are responsible for the performance of Age UK Somerset, for its impact upon stakeholders and for its corporate behaviour. You will be a steward of Age UK Somerset’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking care over their security and you must ensure that our governance is of the highest possible standard. Working with the Chief Executive, Trustees must ensure that Age UK Somerset has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction andis focused on achieving these and you will ensure operational plans and budgets and the fundraising strategy support the vision, mission and strategy.
This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for older people living in Somerset and North Somerset. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity.
You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in at least one of these areas: Financial Management, Governance, Strategic development and planning and will use your skills to ensure that Age UK Somerset is solvent, well-run and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. In law trustees of Age UK Somerset have three particular duties – compliance, prudence and care.
