START was established in 2001 and is committed to supporting refugees in Plymouth.As a small charity we make a big impact on the lives of those settling in the Plymouth area. START is currently working in partnership with 4 other local organisations to deliver Plymouth Resettlement Support Service - a service offering support to people who have come to Plymouth via dispersal or through relevant schemes to settle in the City.
START uses the strengths approach’ which sees potential rather than problems, supporting individuals to make their own choices about what matters to them. Having been set up as a collaboration with the Social Work Co-ordinator of Plymouth University START continues to offer student placements with a commitment to students as an essential part of START’s workforce.
Trustees play a leading role in supporting the staff team.
We are currently seeking a trustee with HR experience.
In addition our Treasurer is intending to step down from the role which he has held for 5 years.
We would also welcome trustees with lived experience.
We are seeking a Treasurer with at least 5 years of experience in accountancy, audit, and financial management in a senior role. Most importantly we seek someone who has the time to support our managers to ensure that START continues to remain financially viable in these difficult times.
A trustee with at least 5 years experience working as a Human Resources manager or similar who can provide HR support to our managers.
We would also welcome applications from people with lived experience.
As a Trustee you will have the opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to help shape the work and direction of the organisation.
The role of Treasurer is particularly important to us, someone who can advise and support the managers to ensure that the organisation remains financially viable.
