What will you be doing?

As treasurer of DP, in addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, you will ensure our financial affairs are conducted within legal requirements and good practice. You’ll work closely with the Chair/Vice Chair and trustees to oversee the financial sustainability and development of our charity including:

• Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements
• Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its  needs
• Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy
• Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board
• Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place
• Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans
• Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
• Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
• Assisting with funding applications
• Making a formal presentation of the accounts at the AGM

What are we looking for?

• Financial qualifications and experience (familiarity with accounting software such as Xero would be an asset)
• Experience of charity finance.
• The skills to analyse proposals.
• Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board
• A willingness to be available to Trustees and Line Managers for advice.
• Experience of work related to refugees, asylum seekers an advantage.
