Our Chair works closely with the Director in furthering the creative and business development of Paradise Mill, the Silk Museum and the Old Sunday School. They lead the trustees in working together with the Director to give a clear vision of the Trust's strategic direction.

Our Board meetings take place at the Silk Museum, four times a year, and we hold one strategy meeting per year. Our AGM is usually held in January. We have a Programme Board that meets monthly with the Director, reporting to Board meetings on the progress of the Trust's projects, and the Chair is occasionally required to join their meetings. With our portfolio of listed buildings, the Trust faces challenging maintenance and access issues, on which the Chair is occasionally required to make decisions outside scheduled meeting times.

Our Chair meets regularly with the Director in a supportive and advisory capacity. As an advocate for the Trust, the Chair may be required to attend meetings with other organisations on the Trust's behalf. Attendance at Museum events, such as exhibition openings, is encouraged.

The Chair's duties usually entail committing around14 hours a month to the Trust. We are looking for a commitment to a fixed term of three years, with the potential to extend for a further three years.
