Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Chair wanted to develop our small Homeless Charity. Our core mission is to feed and give informal support to homeless  or low income people struggling to survive

What will you be doing?

We need a new Chair to take our small charity forward. Our current challenges are to professionalise the service by updating policies, expanding our social media presence, improving fundraising, streamlining  volunteer recruitment and training and developing an advice service.

Our current Chair wishes to step down after 11 years  and we need someone with organisational and management skills to replace her and coordinate the team

What are we looking for?

They need at least 3 years experience of strategic and operational  management, ideally managing a volunteer team working with vulnerable clients. They will need to have service and policy development experience, knowledge of training methods, health & safety GDPR and the ability to build a cohesive team. Empathy and understanding of the needs of people who  are homeless is a must. A background in advice and advocacy is desirable.

What difference will you make?

The person will be able to make a huge impact  by bringing their professional skills to bear to improve the service and team up.

Before you apply

"Please apply through Reach in the first instance stating why they are interested  in the role,  Candidates  will be  initially asked to visit the service one Sunday  to see  how we operate   and meet volunteers and service users

Interviews will be an informal Zoom chat or in person with the Chair to brief on the service and the role and to clarify expectations. The candidate will be invited to meet team leaders via Zoom followed by an interview
