We are looking for a successor to our retiring Chair to oversee the continued development of our support and service offers in the coming years ensuring that what we offer is aligned with what individuals and their carers require.

What will you be doing?

Supportability is a locally based charity primarily operating in the Stockport area but also providing services in the surrounding areas for children, young people and adults with complex disabilities. We have been established since 1953, having been originally set up by a group of parents whose children had Cerebral Palsy. Today we provide a wide range of services for people with complex physical and/or learning disabilities.

Since its inception, the vision of the Charity has been to be able to make a service offer to people that is consistent, affordable and reliable, and in the last five years, the organisation has undergone a major change programme including a rebrand of the Charity’s name.

Our current Chair is retiring and we require a successor to oversee the continued development of our support and service offers in the coming years ensuring that what we offer as a charity is aligned with what individuals and their carers require.

We are looking for an individual with the skills, knowledge and expertise to help drive our organisation forward, whilst embedding governance across the Board and charity and acknowledging the changing social care landscape. This important and rewarding role provides a unique opportunity to be part of the continual evolving and further development of the Charity, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of the people accessing its services, in a positive and innovative way.

For more details of the role and for an informal discussion via Zoom with the CEO and the retiring Chair, in the first instance please contact us via the Reach Volunteering platform.

Closing date 7th December 2020

You will share our vision, and ambition to take a leading role in our journey to be recognised as an outstanding organisation and you will have experience of Charity governance, change management and preferably having worked with or having been part of a Board of Trustees.

What difference will you make?

What's in it for the volunteer?

This important and rewarding role provides a unique opportunity to be part of the continual evolving and further development of the Charity, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of the people accessing its services, in a positive and innovative way.
