Yorkshire Regional Netball Association represent England Netball members in Yorkshire, and work closely with England Netball staff to deliver and develop netball in Yorkshire. The Chair is responsible for leading the Regional Management Board

What will you be doing?

The Chair is responsible for leading the Regional Management Board. This includes: 

  • Leading on the research, development, implementation and review of the Regional strategic plan for netball in Yorkshire, ensuring all stakeholders are involved and consulted. 
  • Ensuring that Yorkshire Netball complies with the constitution. 
  • Ensuring that Yorkshire Netball complies with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of England Netball. 
  • Chairing Regional Management Board meetings. 
  • Chairing the Annual General Meeting (and Extraordinary General Meetings if required). 
  • Working with the Secretary to ensure that members receive accurate and timely information ahead of meetings and receive minutes following meeting. 
  • Working in partnership with England Netball’s Partnerships and Delivery Manager, Regional Officer and local staff. 
  • Working in Partnership with National representatives of England Netball as required, representing Yorkshire Netball at National Regional Chairs meetings. 
  • Providing leadership, support and guidance to constituent County Associations and members of the Region. 
  • Acting as an ambassador and an advocate for the sport and Yorkshire Netball. 2 
  • Leading an inclusive and compassionate culture that focuses on valuing and respecting all, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and widening participation. 
  • Adhering to the Regional Management Board Code of Behaviour.

The Board Meets 4 times per year for Regional Management Board Meetings, with informal catch-up meetings in between these to keep momentum. Meetings are a mix of in person where possible, hybrid, and more typically online via Zoom, you will need access to email, WhatsApp, phone and Zoom. There is an AGM annually in January where Board members are elected.

What are we looking for?

In order to be a volunteer on the Regional Management Board, you will need to be, or be willing to become a member of England Netball as part of Yorkshire (all fees will be reimbursed).

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of netball. 
  • Able to uphold the Region’s code of conduct and behave professionally at all times. 
  • Ability to chair and lead a small group, with a strong strategic vision. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills. 
  • Good IT skills (Including Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Publisher) 
  • Ability to be flexible and work with volunteers from diverse backgrounds to build and maintain effective networks. 
  • Take an interest in and respect the viewpoints of others. 
  • Access to email, WhatsApp and telephone. 
  • Be willing to travel 4 times a year minimum to England Netball national meetings.
