Care Network is an independent charity based in and operating across Blackburn with Darwen. Our vision is for informed, empowered, resilient, independent and healthy individuals and communities in the local area.

What will you be doing?

Care Network is now at an important stage of our development and we are seeking to grow our board of trustees.  We want to fulfil our potential as an innovative Home Improvement Agency, building on our established safe trader scheme, and we also want to develop our central information hub that provides access to relevant health and wellbeing options, so that people can live a better life.

We already have a strong team of established trustees in place and are keen to complement their skills with the addition of new trustees who could help the charity to thrive and grow.

What are we looking for?

In particular, we are looking for people who have experience in the following areas:

  • Financial services or accountancy
  • Commercial business management and expertise
  • Legal
  • Links with / knowledge of the health agenda

You will need to be a sound strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, and be able to demonstrate significant senior level experience. We are seeking candidates who can contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the charity, through effective participation at board meetings and who can support the charity in meeting challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

We are looking for:

A commitment to the charity

A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort

A strategic vision

Good independent judgement

An ability to think creatively

A willingness to speak your mind

An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

An ability to work effectively as a member of a team

A commitment to upholding Nolan’s seven principles of public life; selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership

What difference will you make?

We aspire to be the leader in connecting people with quality services and information that helps local residents to make informed choices and that enables them to live independent, healthy and safe lives.

As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as help us achieve our purpose to improve the lives of local residents in Blackburn with Darwen. Times are hard as people struggle with the cost of living and by becoming a trustee you will see first hand the difference that we make.  This is a great opportunity to make a difference to people's lives.

Before you apply

We have an application form to complete.  This is simple and straightforward and once received it is reviewed initially by the Chief Executive and Chair of Care Network. The application form is available upon request together with other associated literature on the work that we do.
