We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Bookkeeper/Finance Manager to assist with maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring our accounts are up-to-date. This role is vital to supporting our operations.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records using Xero, ensuring accurate tracking of all income and expenditures.
  • Reconcile receipts and invoices with financial records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage and track volunteer expense submissions, ensuring they are recorded correctly and reimbursed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain the organisation’s budget, providing updates on financial performance.
  • Assist with the preparation of basic financial reports, including income statements and cash flow reports, for internal use and board meetings.
  • Support record-keeping for compliance with CIC regulations and other relevant standards.
  • Provide recommendations for improving financial processes and efficiency where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure alignment with organisational goals and financial policies.

Time Commitment:

  • During the initial period, the role may require 1–2 days per week to reconcile and update financial records.
  • Once systems and records are up-to-date, the role can transition to a flexible schedule of approximately 4–6 hours per month, as agreed.

This role is ideal for individuals with bookkeeping or finance experience looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity to make a difference while honing their skills.

Your contribution will help us effectively track budgets, manage volunteer expenses, and align with the requirements of a Community Interest Company (CIC).

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Basic understanding of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to deadlines.

What difference will you make?

What You’ll Gain and Impact:

  • Experience supporting a dynamic non-profit organisation making a meaningful impact in the community.
  • An opportunity to develop and apply financial management skills in a flexible, supportive environment.
