BeScience STEM is seeking a Board Secretary to ensure the effective governance and administration of the board.

What will you be doing?

BeScience STEM is seeking a Board Secretary to ensure the effective governance and administration of the board. This individual ensures that all board processes are conducted by legal requirements and the organisation's policies. The role also facilitates effective communication between the board, management and stakeholders.

Your Other Day-to-day Responsibilities Might Include:

 

  1. Coordinate and schedule board meetings and Annual General Meetings (AGMs).
  2. Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, supporting documents and previous minutes to board members in a timely manner.
  3. Attend board meetings, take minutes and ensure decisions are accurately recorded and action points followed up.
  4. Maintain accurate and well-organised records of board proceedings including minutes, resolutions and attendance.
  5. Safeguard essential governance documents such as board policies, organisational records and legal agreements.
  6. Support the Chair and board members in fulfilling their roles by providing information, training materials and advice on governance issues.

  1. Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  2. Knowledge of governance best practices, charity law and compliance requirements in the UK.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  5. Familiarity with the charity sector and its unique governance requirements.
  6. High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  7. Collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.
  8. Commitment to the charity's mission and values.
