Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

You will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of the food hub. Your contributions will ensure that the hub continues to support the community through partnerships and maximising food resources.

Volunteer Board Member – Community Food Hub (Summary)

Join a passionate team working to fight food insecurity through sustainable, community-driven efforts. Our Food Hub distributes nutritious food, builds partnerships, and supports those in need. We're looking for dedicated individuals with knowledge of food systems, community engagement, or volunteer coordination to help shape our strategic direction and grow our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Input – Help guide the overall vision and goals of the hub
  • Food Systems Knowledge – Share insights on sourcing, sustainability, and ethical distribution
  • Networking – Build partnerships with local businesses and community organisations
  • Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement – Support recruitment and retention of volunteers
  • Community Outreach & Partnerships – Foster relationships to expand community reach
  • Fundraising & Awareness – Assist in connecting with donors and funding opportunities
  • Oversight – Attend board meetings and contribute to decision-making and compliance

Commitment:

  • 6–10 flexible hours per month
  • Hybrid role with quarterly board meetings
  • One-year minimum term

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Knowledge of Food Systems (e.g., food sourcing, distribution, nutrition, sustainability).
  • Networking Skills: Ability to connect with local businesses, organisations, and individuals who can support the Hub.
  • Experience in Partnerships: Proven ability to foster relationships with external stakeholders, including local food banks, schools, and community organisations.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement: Experience in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers.
  • Interest in Community Development: Passion for making a tangible difference in addressing food insecurity and supporting community well-being.
