Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We’re looking for someone ready to progress into the Chair role over the next 12–18 months. As Chair, you’ll lead the Board, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure WOCT continues to thrive.

What will you be doing?

Why Join Us?

As a Director on the WOCT Board, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of a trusted community organisation that makes a real difference every day. We’re at an exciting point in our journey, with growing demand for our services and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers at our core.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of strategic thinking, leadership potential, and a genuine commitment to community impact. You don’t need to tick every box, but the ideal candidate will have:

  • Leadership experience – whether in a professional, voluntary, or community setting
  • Strategic thinking – able to see the bigger picture and contribute to long-term planning
  • Strong communication skills – comfortable engaging with stakeholders, staff, and fellow board members
  • Governance awareness – an understanding of charity or company governance (or a willingness to learn)
  • Collaborative mindset – works well with others and values diverse perspectives
  • Financial and organisational awareness – able to interpret reports and make informed decisions
  • Commitment to our mission – passionate about supporting vulnerable and isolated individuals through accessible transport

Experience chairing meetings or leading at board level is a bonus, but not essential — we’re keen to support the right person to grow into the Chair role

What difference will you make?

By joining WOCT’s Board, you’ll be directly influencing how we support some of the most isolated members of our community. Your decisions will help shape services that enable older people, those with limited mobility, and individuals in rural areas to maintain independence, attend essential appointments, and stay socially connected

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete our additional application form
