We need a woodworker who has experience of teaching people with learning disabilities. We are a charity that specialises in teaching arts and crafts. We have a fully set up woodwork workshop.
We work in co-production with our learning disabled crafts people. The role would consist of teaching the basic skills of woodworking; sanding, pyrograph etc. Teaching would be on a one to one basis. We are open from Monday to Friday. Our wood workshop has an extraction system and all the necessary equipment for teaching. We have a shop as part of our premises which sells our co-produced products.
Skills needed are woodwork skills, teaching skills, patience, and experience of people with learning disabilities.
Your role will extend the skills of our learning disabled crafts people. They all have good expertise in most crafts but are missing out on woodwork skills. Anything they can do to add to their skills base adds to their self esteem, confidence and independence.
