Volunteer from home with Help Close By and use your lunch hour or spare evening to tackle poverty. We’re looking for graphic designers to work with us as we take our next step to develop a digital tool to reduce the impacts of poverty nationally.

What will you be doing?

Help Close By is a charity which uses digital technology to give people access to poverty relief - from food support to advice services. Our app has been connecting people in need with poverty relief organisations in Birmingham since 2020, and our local volunteers have been operating our own food delivery service since 2022. Our new version of the app will include a directory of poverty relief organisations across the UK, data on how many people are accessing them, and how effective the organisations are in supporting service users. This data will come together to create a live poverty map of the UK which, as well as connecting people to the services they need efficiently, we hope will inform funding and policy in relation to poverty in the future. Our volunteer animators will create animations for our rollout, app and website so that our services reach the people who need them, and the volunteers who support us. Opportunities range from bitesize tasks to CV boosting projects to fit in with your time and goals.

What are we looking for?

We are eager to hear from anyone with an interest in volunteering with a poverty relief charity, who has experience of animation.

What difference will you make?

Volunteers will have a hand in creating animations which engage service users and volunteers, in order that our services can continue to reach people in need.

Before you apply

Shortlisted volunteers will be asked to complete an additional application form.
