We are looking for a reliable, dedicated, and honest Maths After School Club Volunteer for Heritage Charity London.

What will you be doing?

What will I be doing?

  • You will be running weekly grammar clubs with year 5 children in Barking.
  • You will be required to support children with their progression through different Maths topics within this field.
  • You will be creating a lesson plan for each week with your other club leader in order for there to be a clear and identified structure in line with children's current skills and vision for progression.

  • You will be required to commit to one hour per week on Fridays between 3:15pm and 4:45pm.
  • You will need to commit to following a lesson plan - nothing too complicated or thorough - just something to give a clear structure to the weekly after school clubs.
  • You will need to be willing to attend on time, every Friday up until the end of July, and possibly again in September depending on your availability.

  • We will cover the cost of your travel up to £10 per day. We will also cover the cost of your enhanced DBS check which you can use for a further 2 years in any other child-force related position.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required

What are we looking for?

  • You should have a minimum of 3 years experience in either child education and/or mathematics.
  • You must be confident in mathematics at year 5 level.

  • You should be confident and competent when it comes to working with, managing, and maintaining authority over a lively group of 20 children or less.
  • You should be confident and committed to regular and thorough lesson planning for each week's club.

What difference will you make?

  • You will have the opportunity to take part in a rewarding project, leaving you with an unforgettable sense of achievement having made a significant impact on the quality of children's lives.
  • Your time and efforts will make a drastic difference to disadvantaged children's accessibility to education and developmental opportunities in life.
  • You will be ensuring that education and extracurricular activities are equally obtainable by all children regardless of social and/or financial positions in society
