Bigger Voices - Better Lives. Advocacy for All has a long history of supporting people to speak up, exercise their rights and to be active members of their community. We are looking for enthusiastic Trustees who share our ethos and values.
Advocacy for All is looking for new Trustees for our Board at a time when we are seeing exciting developments and the opportunity to plan for the future.
We are looking for people who will get involved in our planning and governance, help us develop and remain true to our values.
The Board meets six times a year, with occasional sub group meetings. Board members are always welcome at organisational team days and events, to see the work of our staff, volunteers and members.
We are about to review our business plan, with a view to developing a five year strategy, which will face the challenges of funding in the third sector and provide a clear map for our future development and continued provision of services which make such positive differences in the lives of the people we work with.
The Board priorities are continuing to ensure good governance, provision of good quality services, financial robustness and innovation and flexibility to meet the changing demands of the sector. It's overall principle is that Advocacy for All continues to ensure a voice for people to speak up for themselves.
- Financial management
- Advice / advocacy
We are especially keen to recruit a Trustee with legal knowledge and a Trustee with financial experience to take on the role of Treasurer.
New Trustees must firmly believe in the values and ethos of Advocacy for All, and be committed to the rights and choices of the people we support and also in ensuring our staff, volunteers and members are valued and involved in the planning and development of the organisation.
Trustees must be able to engage with the people who use our services and encourage and embrace their input through our planning and governance processes.
Trustees must be able to attend six evening full Board meetings a year, with other occasional meetings such as planning and sub groups.
What impact the opportunity will have
We need our Trustees to make sure we have ethical and effective governance, that Advocacy for All meets its Charitable aims and delivers good quality services for all of its contracts. The Board also provides leadership and direction, to ensure Advocacy for All continues to support and promote the rights, voices and choices of the people we work with.
New Trustees will provide enthusiasm and commitment to ensure Advocacy for All has clear plans and direction to successfully navigate the challenges of the future.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
The role of Trustee offers the opportunity to be part of a team who will help us continue to change to be fit for purpose and robust enough to meet the challenges of the Third sector. Your input will make a real difference in the development of the organisation and also the lives of the thousands of people we support each year.
Mostly outside office hours
The Board meetings six times a year in the evenings. There are occasional sub group meetings and usually one additional planning session a year.
