About Concrete Youth

Concrete Youth is a charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of people labelled as having profound and multiple learning disabilities through cultural provision. Consistently making trailblazing work, the touring department offers exceptional, especially designed, live sensory theatre productions for audience labelled as having PMLD. To date, Concrete Youth’s touring productions have reached over 4,500 audience members across 5 continents since its launch in 2019.

Winner of the Corporate Vision Best Sensory Education Award for 2023, Concrete Youth’s Education & Engagement Department is the only department in the UK linked to a theatre company to offer curriculum-focussed, sensory education for people labelled as having profound and multiple learning disabilities. The department offers sensory stories, sensory workshops, sensory parties and story massage sessions, as well as training and consultancy for theatres, schools and care settings.

About the Treasurer Role

Concrete Youth is looking to select 1 individual to join our Board of Trustees, and be jointly responsible for its governance and strategic direction. In order to strengthen the trustees' areas of expertise, we are particularly interested in those who have experience in charity finance, accounting, financial planning etc. This opportunity comes as our current Treasurer steps down after a successful 5 year tenure.

The Board of Trustees meet quarterly in Hull City Centre, where the charity's offices are based. Please note, Concrete Youth can consider applicants living outside of Hull - trustees are able to join meetings remotely. Concrete Youth can also cover travel expenses for meetings. There are no other financial recompenses attached to these positions. Outside of attendance, it is important that regular contact is maintained with the CEO & Co-Artistic Director and relevant staff members, usually by e-mail or telephone. Trustees are pro-active and involved in follow up tasks, advocacy for the organisation and contributions to strategic work. An introductory package and sufficient lead-in time will be provided.
