Matthew Good Foundation is a grant-giving charity. It's an exciting time of growth and we are looking for three committed and motivated individuals to join our Board of trustees to help lead our charitable Foundation through this exciting period.
Our mission is to support small charitable organisations to amplify their impact, and we work with a range of businesses, stakeholders and individuals, partnering them with small, innovative nonprofits to deliver positive social impact.
We were created and are funded by the John Good Group, a 190-year-old 6th-generation family business passionate about its social impact. Over the past 12 years, we have donated over £1m in grants, funding over 500 nonprofit organisations. We work with businesses and individuals to help them direct much-needed funding to small nonprofit organisations in a meaningful way.
We're looking for three new trustees to create a dynamic board engaged with the next phase of our journey. You will need a high level of personal integrity and passion for our work in amplifying small nonprofits.
We're keen for our offering to evolve, and you'll play a crucial part in improving what we do by supporting and challenging the Executive Team to ensure we maximise our impact.
The role of a Trustee is to ensure our charity operates effectively so that the Matthew Good Foundation delivers on its vision, mission and values and fulfils its legal responsibilities and requirements outlined by the Charity Commission. We're looking for passionate individuals who want to help us make a difference to small charities.
We're looking for three trustees with the following experience:
Trustee 1: Experience in the nonprofit funding landscape either from a grant-making capacity, as a funding recipient or as an advisor. Knowledge of core funding, funder-plus models and impact measurement would be beneficial.
Trustee 2: Experience of the power of film to raise awareness of good causes and global issues, preferably combined with experience within the charity sector at a leadership or trustee level.
Trustee 3: Experience as a small nonprofit leader or small nonprofit expert with experience in charity governance.
For all trustee roles, we're looking for:
We respect and value difference and seek to create an inclusive workplace which promotes and values the diversity of our employees. We, therefore, welcome applications from all backgrounds.
Our mission is to amplify the voices of small charitable organisations whose high-impact work is often unseen and underfunded.
Did you know that in the UK:
Our experience over the last 12 years of working closely with small charitable organisations has highlighted that despite making a significant impact on the world around them, they struggle to access funding. We work to support small charitable organisations by providing them with donations, grants and additional services, such as charity films, that will help them thrive.
As part of our board, you will support and shape our work and strategic direction and help us achieve our purpose to amplify small non-profits. We're going through an exciting period of growth; we've just reached our £1m giving milestone, and we expect to reach our £2m milestone by 2026!
We're looking for candidates who will support us in growing our impact, support and challenge the Executive Team, and have the vision, enthusiasm, and strong communication skills to influence strategy and board decisions.
Becoming a Trustee of the Matthew Good Foundation is enjoyable and rewarding. It comes with the opportunity to help shape our Foundation's current and future direction, impact a wide range of diverse small non-profits across the UK and overseas every year, meet and work with people outside your professional sector, and help your personal and professional development.
