Our commitment to tackling climate change

Great Big Green Week

As part of Great Big Green Week, Reach Volunteering commits to taking action on climate change.

The biggest challenges facing civil society are the climate, extinction and biodiversity crises. As a charity which supports civil society organisations, Reach Volunteering recognises the scale and urgency of the crises and the disproportionate impact they will have on people from marginalised communities.

Reach believes civil society has a big role to play in climate action. On Monday 20 September 2021, our trustees committed Reach to reviewing its own carbon footprint, and to exploring how we can support other social purpose organisations through our services: to take action at board level and operationally, by connecting charities with people with relevant expertise who can help. These are small steps, but we will build on them. Inaction and silence are not adequate responses to the climate crises so we will learn from others, and share our own progress, as we go. We hope that many more civil society organisations will do the same.
